Anbendra Mazhayilae

'Anbendra Mazahiyilae' from Minsara Kanavu will always be there in my top 10 favourites of Rahman. I still wonder how the National Award committee selected Chitra as best female playback singer for 'Ooh la la la' over Anuradha Sriram, who has given a soulful and exquisite rendition for this song. Here, you can listen the instrumental version of the song used for background score. Now that we know the movie, how about guessing the scenes for which this piece is used.

One of the most beautiful piecs that I have heard! We are all familiar with that beautiful composition but the arrangements, chords here... are all just magical as if only AR can come up with such stuff!

This is ethereal! Thanks for posting it and made me listen to this BGM after a long time!

Its been a while since I last saw this movie but I am guessing this song is the backdrop for some flashback shots of Kajol.
National awards are usually given at a time when the artiste has had a good couple of years and might not be for the actual song/movie they are nominated for. That is my opinion. Anuradha Sriram probably lost out following that same 'compensation' policy. Besides her high pitch renditions are sometimes himesh-level nasal.

Sriram - I am glad that you enjoyed listening to this piece..

Vijay - I think before that Chitra had already won 4 national awards.. but I don't think Anuradha's rendition was as bad as to an extent of comparing it to Himesh's singing...

I agree. That was a bad comparison. Couldn't stop myself from mentioning nasal and himesh in the same sentence.
